| Kites Pick Up 5-2 Win Against Nagasaki | The Kinboshi Kites topped the Nagasaki Stars, 5-2, in Western League action at Konohana Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Kinboshi pitcher Saimei Hayashida. Hayashida, who is tied for 2nd in the WL in quality starts with 11, went the distance for Kinboshi. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. Nagasaki has now lost 4 straight.
The Kites got a big at-bat from second baseman Yamahiko Hirata. For the game, Hirata was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Kinboshi a 2-0 lead.
"Saimei was pounding the zone," said Kinboshi manager Frank Moore.
