Starting pitcher Rei Matsumura had a solid game. He was a big reason the Fukuoka Falcons throttled the Kinboshi Kites, 5-2. In 9 innings, Matsumura surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs. Fukuoka is now 26-30, Kinboshi 28-29.

Shoshichi Hanzawa had a big run-scoring double for the Falcons in the bottom of the second inning. With Fukuoka leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Saimei Hayashida, who finished 4th in the WL in ERA with 2.61 last year, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Falcons ahead, 2-0.
