| Late Rally by Kites Secures 3-1 Win | In a tight game between the Kinboshi Kites and the Nagasaki Stars, pitcher Akiho Komori was terrific on the mound. The Kinboshi left-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. The win went to Toyoji Tsuda in relief, making him now 2-1. Yoshiharu Fujitate took the loss for Nagasaki. Matoba Miwa closed the game out for Kinboshi, earning his 10th save.
Yamahiko Hirata, who finished 3rd in the EL in home runs with 22 in 1962, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hirata contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Kinboshi up, 2-1.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Komori.
The victory gives the Kites a record of 28-27.
