Falcons Win, 10-8, Versus Nagasaki | The Fukuoka Falcons beat the Nagasaki Stars, 10-8, at Fukuoka Stadium. Jotaro Murakami, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Fukuoka reliever Kijuro Fukushima got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Mikiyasu Sakata was tagged with the loss. Picking up his 2nd save was 31-year old right-handed pitcher Yuushuu Nakata.
Had Harl Smith not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Smith hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 9-8, in favor of the Falcons.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Smith said after the game.
The victory gives the Falcons a record of 24-20. | |
