| Sailors Bang Out 8-5 Win Versus Kobe | Good production from right fielder Kesanori Kikuchi helped the Osaka Sailors topple the Kobe Bulls, 8-5. Kikuchi was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Sailors. Picking up the save was Tom Drill, his 7th. Osaka has now won 4 games in a row.
Yoshio Ishikawa had a big 3-run home run for the Sailors in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Osaka trailing 4-3 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from former first round draft pick Yukihiro Okamura and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Sailors on top, 6-4.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Ishikawa told the Osaka Times.
