| Stars Beat Bulls, 3-0 | In a low-scoring contest between the Nagasaki Stars and the Kobe Bulls, Shinsaku Shiraishi, who finished 5th in the WL in ERA with 3.15 in 1972, proved to be the difference. The Nagasaki left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Stars win. The win makes Nagasaki 22-21.
The outcome hung in the balance with two down in the top of the eighth. With a runner on 1st and Kobe trailing 1-0, Ryuichi Funakoshi struck out. It was a big out for Nagasaki pitcher Tetsushi Kondo.
