| Bulls Lose By a Run at Fukuoka | Soggy conditions did not keep Fukuoka and Kobe from playing their scheduled game.
The Fukuoka Falcons picked up a win at Fukuoka Stadium, dropping the Kobe Bulls, 5-4. Tsuneteru Fujiwara, who is tied for 8th in the WL in complete games with 2, was the difference-maker. Shinpo Yamasaki was credited with the save for Fukuoka, his 6th of the season.
Tsuruo Akamine dealt the Bulls a blow in the bottom of the eighth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Fukuoka leading 4-1, Akamine, who finished 5th in the WL in on-base percentage with .386 in 1971, hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Fujiwara.
With the victory, the Falcons upped their record to 21-19.
