| Stars Thwart Bulls, 7-5 | The Nagasaki Stars grabbed a win, 7-5, over the Kobe Bulls at Matsunoki Stadium. Nagasaki catcher Botan Wada went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The setback makes Kobe 22-15.
Kodai Takamatsu had a big bases-clearing triple for the Stars in the top of the sixth inning. With Nagasaki leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Yoshimatsu Yamamura, who finished 2nd in the WL in ERA with 2.37 in 1973, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stars ahead, 6-2.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Wada told the Nagasaki Daily News.
