| Falcons Drop Stars, 5-4 | Fans watched the Fukuoka Falcons and the Nagasaki Stars fight to the finish.
The Fukuoka Falcons took Nagasaki pitcher Tatsuo Sato's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. The final score had Fukuoka getting past the Stars, 5-4. Sato went 5.2 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 5. The winner was Ryunosuke Saito, who threw 72 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 4 hits. Getting the save was Kijuro Fukushima, his 8th.
Takane Nakanishi had a clutch at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for the Falcons. Coming up with the bases loaded and Fukuoka trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single.
Nakanishi described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
The second-place Falcons now have a win-loss record of 21-12.
