| Oto Tosses No-Hitter Against Osaka | Tatsuharu Oto relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Osaka hitless in a win, 6-0, at Kotei Stadium.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Sailors off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 23-year-old starter rung up 6 strikeouts and no walks in whipping the Sailors.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Osaka skipper Heikichi Kawasaki said.
Oto has gone 3-2 this season with an ERA of 2.56 and 33 strikeouts in 56.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .239 against him. | |
