| Falcons Win, 6-3, at Vesutan | Fukuoka beat Vesutan in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Fukuoka Falcons picked up a win at Vesutan Stadium, downing the Vesutan Bees, 6-3. On the mound for Fukuoka was right-hander Rei Matsumura, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 9 innings, Matsumura surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs.
There was more than one reason the Falcons beat the Bees, but Matsumura's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"I'll be honest," said Matsumura. "I was running on fumes at the end."
The first-place Falcons have a record of 18-11.
