| Sailors Take Home 4-1 Win Over Nagasaki | The Nagasaki Stars and Osaka Sailors delighted fans at Kotei Stadium.
The Osaka Sailors picked up a win at Kotei Stadium, knocking off the Nagasaki Stars, 4-1. Starting pitcher Takahiko Kurata was a big reason why. Kurata, who leads the WL in strikeouts with 49, went the distance for Osaka. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits.
The Sailors got a big at-bat from third baseman Bunmei Matsumura. For the game, Matsumura belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Osaka a 3-1 lead.
"Takahiko was throwing strikes, locating well," said Osaka manager Heikichi Kawasaki.
The Stars fall to 11-15 and continue their uneven start to the 1963 season.
