Late Rally by Stars Locks Up 6-3 Win | The Nagasaki Stars picked up a win at Kotei Stadium, taking down the Osaka Sailors, 6-3. Starting pitcher Takashi Masuda was a big reason why. Masuda yielded 3 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-3. The Sailors fall to 9-12 and continue their lackluster start to the 1963 season.
Nagasaki used the timely hitting of Yukiya Sakai to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stars on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Said Nagasaki manager Eddie Roseman: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did." | |
