| Sailors Get Thrilling 2-1 Win | Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Osaka Sailors and Kinboshi Kites.
The Osaka Sailors, despite a fine performance by Kinboshi pitcher Haruo Kawamoto, grabbed a 2-1 win in 10 innings at Konohana Stadium. Kawamoto allowed no runs over 5 innings. Haruki Ogawa earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1.
Osaka used a timely hit from Ryuji Tamura to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sailors ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"That's baseball," said Kinboshi manager Frank Moore. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
After losing, Kinboshi is 10-12.
