| Guest Falcons Win, 3-2, at Osaka | Kotei Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Osaka Sailors and Fukuoka Falcons.
The Fukuoka Falcons topped the Osaka Sailors, 3-2, in Western League action at Kotei Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Fukuoka pitcher and Nabari, Japan, native Rei Matsumura. The winner was Matsumura. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Tsuneteru Fujiwara. Shinpo Yamasaki earned the save for Fukuoka, his 5th of the year.
Tsuruo Akamine, who finished 3rd in the WL in runs with 103 in 1972, had a direct impact on the outcome. Akamine contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Fukuoka up, 3-1.
Osaka manager Bill Sherrill said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The Falcons raised their record to 13-7. | |
