Starting pitcher Gene Walker gave the Kinboshi Kites a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Vesutan Bees, 3-2, at Konohana Stadium. Toshinori Nagase closed it out for Kinboshi, earning his 2nd save. The loss drops Vesutan to 7-6.

Sueo Shimabukuro, who finished 3rd in the WL in extra base hits with 64 in 1957, contributed to the Kinboshi win with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Walker. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
