Kobe right-hander Kakuya Izumi pitched his team to victory over the Nagasaki Stars at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. The final score was 3-2. The victory makes Kobe 10-6, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 1974.
Kobe used a well-timed hit by Kouyuu Kira to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Bulls ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Kira told the Kobe Times. "You win just by scoring more runs."
