| 5 Straight Wins for Kites | Kinboshi used a superb performance from starting pitcher Ryusuke Maeda to down the Osaka Sailors, 4-1. Maeda yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-1. Josuke Fujimori earned the save for Kinboshi, his 2nd of the year.
Ayahito Yamamoto, who finished 5th in the WL in wins above replacement with 5.6 in 1956, had a direct impact on the outcome. Yamamoto contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Kinboshi up, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Yamamoto told the Kinboshi Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Sailors fall to 4-5 and continue their wobbly start to the 1961 season.
