| Stars Absorb 4-2 Loss at Konohana Stadium | The Kinboshi Kites locked up a win at Konohana Stadium, knocking off the Nagasaki Stars, 4-2. On the mound for Kinboshi was right-hander Kyuso Ikeda. He played a major role in the triumph. In 7 innings, Ikeda surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Matoba Miwa sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Fumisato Muramoto, the first overall pick in the 1972 draft, chipped in a run-scoring single for Kinboshi in the bottom of the first. For the game, the third baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
Kinboshi manager Frank Moore called it "a good, solid win."
With the loss, Nagasaki drops to 6-2.
