| Falcons Win in Extras, 4-3 | The Fukuoka Falcons snuck past the Osaka Sailors, 4-3, in 11 innings. Fukuoka pitcher Iwao Yamamoto, in particular, had a standout performance. The win was credited to Tatsuhito Watanabe in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kuniaki Usui took the loss. The win gives Fukuoka a record of 3-0.
Batting in the bottom of the 11th, two-time All-Star Hirobumi Takahashi had a real shot to win the game. Osaka pitcher Kuniaki Usui was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Takahashi hit a run-scoring single. The Falcons had a walk-off triumph.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Fukuoka manager Kamlyn Kadota.
