| Stars Use Late Score to Top Falcons, 4-3 | The Nagasaki Stars did just enough to sneak past the Fukuoka Falcons, 4-3, at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium. Nagasaki pitcher Akimasa Murakami, in particular, had a standout performance. Nagasaki goes to 1-1.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Nagasaki left fielder Tokita Oishi, facing Kijuro Fukushima, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Stars the 4-3 win.
Fukuoka manager Horace Jackson said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
