The Oita, Japan native helped his team defeat the Yokohama Kingfishers, 3-2, at Kanagawa Stadium. Esaki yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 5, and struck out 6. His record improves to 13-11. The setback makes Yokohama 51-89.
Kuranosuke Imakake, who finished 2nd in the WL in batting average with .292 in 1967, had a direct impact on the outcome. Imakake contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Rakisuta up, 3-2.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Esaki said.
