| Reliables Score Late, Stun Kingfishers, 4-1 | The Hosho Reliables picked up a win at Nagoya Minami Stadium, topping the Yokohama Kingfishers, 4-1. On the mound for Hosho was right-hander Takamichi Smith. He played a principal role in the triumph. The win puts Hosho at 67-62 this season.
Hosho took a 3-1 lead on Magohachi Tanoue's 3rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Tanoue hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Yokohama pitcher Hirotsugu Sasaki visibly frustrated.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Tanoue, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
