| Watanabe Deals Rakisuta 5-3 Setback | The Yokohama Kingfishers knocked off the Rakisuta Rams, 5-3, in Eastern League action at Kanagawa Stadium. Yokohama pitcher and Ishinomaki, Japan, native Kakuro Watanabe had an outstanding performance. The Kingfishers raised their record to 51-88.
Watanabe's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 5 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 3 hits. Watanabe, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1974 draft, goes to 12-6 on the year with 103 strikeouts.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Watanabe said.
