| Reliables Lay Egg, Lose 12-2 to Yokohama | Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Hosho Reliables take on the Yokohama Kingfishers.
The Yokohama Kingfishers cruised to a win over the Hosho Reliables, 12-2, at Nagoya Minami Stadium. Souhei Tamura, who is a two-time All-Star, led the way, going 1-for-4 for Yokohama. Minao Akagi earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 2-1.
With Yokohama leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Tamura hit a fastball from Shirai Takahashi for a grand slam home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Kingfishers ahead, 6-0.
"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Shun Kawamura.
The first-place Kingfishers have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
