Kingfishers Earn 4-1 Home Win
The rain came, as predicted, but the Yokohama Kingfishers and Sapporo Bears were able to complete their ballgame.

Behind an impressive start by Kiyoji Nakamura, Yokohama beat Sapporo, 4-1. The last-place Kingfishers hiked their record to 54-81.

Yokohama first baseman Naota Nagashima said he was just trying to make contact when he came to bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the sixth. He did more than that -- Nagashima hit a 3-run home run to stake Yokohama to a 4-1 lead. His 2nd home run of the season came off Sapporo pitcher Tomochika Takada.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Yokohama skipper Masayoshi Nozawa.
