| Owls Come Back Late, Nip Reliables | Hosho got a decent performance from pitcher Takashi Masuda, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kyoto Owls. Kyoto won the Nagoya Minami Stadium contest, 5-4. Masuda threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The win lifted the Kyoto record to 74-62.
Tomoshi Manabe drove in one run for Kyoto. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Junya Yamagata. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Manabe told the Kyoto Observer.
