| Bears Hand Rakisuta 5-3 Loss | The Sapporo Bears topped the Rakisuta Rams, 5-3, in Eastern League action at Sapporo Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Sapporo pitcher Tomochika Takada. The winning pitcher was Takada, now 8-12. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Eisaku Yamaoka, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities.
Sapporo left fielder Tomiyuki Kusumoto contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a changeup to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 117th hit of the season and put the Bears ahead, 4-2.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Takada.
Sapporo goes to 56-77, Rakisuta to 63-70.
