| Kingfishers Beaten, 6-0, by Owls | The Kyoto Owls picked up a win at Owls Park, dropping the Yokohama Kingfishers, 6-0. Norikazu Takai, who leads the EL in wins with 18, was the difference-maker. Takai, the winner, moves to 18-7. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up no walks. The second-place Owls go to 78-55.
The Owls got a big boost from first baseman Toyohiro Wada who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Kingfishers hurler Bill Sauerwein. It was his 89th RBI of the season and put Kyoto on top, 1-0.
"I threw strikes with all my pitches," said Takai. "I had them eating out of my hand."
