1974 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Yokohama Kingfishers.

The Rakisuta Rams beat the Yokohama Kingfishers, 10-4, at Kanagawa Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman Shunsuke Murata, who went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winning pitcher was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Kinya Wada. He tossed 148 pitches over 7.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits.

Murata had a big hit for Rakisuta with one out in the top of the fourth. With Rakisuta leading 2-1, Murata hit a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Rams up, 5-1.

Murata said afterward that "winning, obviously, is the main objective."

The 4th-place Rams lifted their record to 63-67.
