| Loss to Owls Extends Yokohama Losing Streak | Starting pitcher Michinaga Sekiguchi had a solid game. He was a big reason the Kyoto Owls throttled the Yokohama Kingfishers, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Sekiguchi, now 7-10. He tossed 8.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 8. The Kingfishers, at 45-80, have lost 11 in a row.
Hiroshi Yamashita, who finished 4th in the EL in slugging percentage with .560 last year, helped out the Kyoto cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the catcher drew 2 walks in 5 plate appearances.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Kyoto manager Tomoya Nagao.
