| Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Reliables | Hosho starter Kinichi Ota pitched well against the Sapporo Bears at Sapporo Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-3. Ota picked up the win for Hosho, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 11-9. Hosho, now 64-52, holds down third place in the Eastern League.
Hosho relied on the hitting of Masaki Yamaguchi to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reliables on top, 4-3. For the game, Yamaguchi had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Ota. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
