The Sapporo Bears beat the Kyoto Owls, 4-3. Sapporo pitcher and Fukuoka, Japan, native Naruki Shimada led the way. Sapporo now sports a record of 52-76.

Takatoshi Yamamoto hit a 2-run double off Ukita Tomita in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Bears in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Yamamoto had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Yamamoto told the Sapporo Gazette.
