| 5-2 Loss Extends Yokohama Losing Streak | The Yokohama Kingfishers extended their losing streak with a defeat by the Rakisuta Rams.
The Rakisuta Rams knocked off the Yokohama Kingfishers, 5-2, in Eastern League action at Rakisuta Stadium. Rakisuta pitcher and Oita, Japan, native Juro Esaki had an outstanding performance. Esaki picked up the win for Rakisuta, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 12-9. Gunji Matsuda was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 21 save opportunities.
Shouta Fukushima, who finished 4th in the EL in wins above replacement with 5.8 last year, helped out the Rakisuta cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the third baseman went 1-4 with a walk.
"That's what this team is about," said Esaki, "picking each other up."
Yokohama has now lost 10 in a row.
