| Kingfishers Bridle Reliables, 3-1 | In a low-scoring contest, Yokohama pitcher Fumimaro Yamauchi was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Yamauchi, now 10-8. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Yokohama, at 77-49, is 10½ games up in the Eastern League.
Shinji Fukuda, who finished 5th in the EL in triples with 7 in 1958, aided the Yokohama cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the pinch hitter drove in one run.
"We busted our tails," said Hosho manager Shun Kawamura. "But we came up short."
