| Kingfishers Stay Hot, Beat Reliables, 5-1 | Another day, another victory for the red-hot Yokohama Kingfishers.
The Yokohama Kingfishers finished off the Hosho Reliables, 5-1. Much of the credit belonged to right fielder Thoki Kaneshige. Kaneshige went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for the Kingfishers. Picking up his 19th save was 30-year old left-handed pitcher Toshinori Osada.
Fujimaro Sonoda hit a 2-run triple off Takamichi Smith in the bottom of the first, which put the Kingfishers in front, 2-0. Sonoda had 2 walks, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
Yokohama manager Tommy McDonell praised his team's "energy."
The Reliables, at 50-54, have lost 5 in a row.
