| Hosho Claims 5-1 Victory | The Hosho Reliables knocked off the Sapporo Bears, 5-1, in Eastern League action at Nagoya Minami Stadium. Hosho pitcher and Matsudo, Japan, native Fumimaro Yamauchi had an outstanding performance. Yamauchi yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 9-4. The first-place Reliables hiked their record to 71-43.
Hosho got a lift in the bottom of the fifth from shortstop Daijiro Nakamura, who hit a sinker to right for a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Reliables up, 5-1.
"It feels good to get this one," Yamauchi told the Hosho News.
