Rakisuta and Sapporo put this game in the books despite some rain.

The Rakisuta Rams withstood an impressive performance by Sapporo first baseman Ukon Kikuchi to defeat the Bears, 6-4, at Sapporo Stadium. Kikuchi was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Genya Ishii. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. The left--hander struck out 3 and walked 1. Yamada Yamanaka earned save number 4 this season.

Rakisuta used the clutch hitting of Tsuguhiro Hashiguchi to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rams ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"We'll pocket this win," said Hashiguchi, "and then go after another."

Rakisuta's record now stands at 54-48, placing them third in the Eastern League.
