| Bears Top Reliables, 5-4 | Hosho got a terrific game from left fielder Hank Dunham. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Sapporo, 5-4. Dunham was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Taishi Yoshimura, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities. Sapporo is now 48-66, Hosho 73-41.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the 11th, with the game tied, Tomiyuki Kusumoto was at the plate when Sapporo scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Bears to go in front, 5-4.
In postgame remarks, Kusumoto simply said: "Here's to a great win!" | |
