| Kingfishers Lose to Owls in Walk-Off | The Kyoto Owls defeated the Yokohama Kingfishers, 5-3. Doing his part was right fielder Sukeichi Onodera, who was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Kenshin Kon notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 4-8. Kyoto is now 61-51. Yokohama is 44-68.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Onodera hit a fastball from Zenzo Watanabe for a 2-run home run. The Owls, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Onodera called the win "what playing unselfish baseball looks like."
