| Rakisuta Upended by Yokohama, 8-1 | Yokohama Kingfishers pitcher Bill Sauerwein was in top form, leading his team past the Rakisuta Rams, 8-1. Sauerwein, the winner, moves to 5-11. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 6 walks. The victory puts Yokohama at 42-67.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Yokohama took the lead on a 2-run single by Toyoji Iwamoto. At the time, the Kingfishers were trailing 1-0, but Iwamoto's hit with two outs against Rakisuta pitcher Kinichi Harada put them in front, 2-1.
"Bill is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Yokohama manager Johnny Ruby.
