The Kyoto Owls converted a terrific effort from starter Takamitsu Fujiwara into a win over the Sapporo Bears at Sapporo Stadium. The Owls won the game by a final score of 11-2. In 8 innings, Fujiwara surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The second-place Owls are now 60-50, the Bears 46-64.

Kyoto used the hitting of Shun Smith to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Owls on top, 3-1. For the game, Smith had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Takamitsu was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Kyoto manager Tomoya Nagao.
