| Bears Net 1-0 Win | Wet weather did not postpone the Sapporo-Yokohama ballgame.
The Sapporo Bears converted a terrific effort from starter Yamada Yamanaka into a win over the Yokohama Kingfishers at Kanagawa Stadium. The Bears won the game by a final score of 1-0. Eisaku Yamaoka earned the save, his 14th.
Sapporo catcher Hiroiaki Nakazawa landed a blow when he belted a solo home run in the top of the fifth. It was his 8th home run of the season. With it, the Bears took a 1-0 lead.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Nakazawa.
Sapporo is 43-64 and Yokohama, with the loss, 44-62.
