Kyoto Owls starter Tadanori Miyata found his groove in his team's 5-1 win over the Hosho Reliables. Miyata yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-9.
Kyoto first baseman Yutaka Yoshida contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 94th hit of the season and put the Owls ahead, 3-0.
Yoshida told a Kyoto Times reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The Owls now own a record of 48-49.
