| Kingfishers 5-2 Losers to Bears | The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Sapporo fans at Sapporo Stadium.
Sapporo Bears starter Arata Komatsu pitched his team past the Yokohama Kingfishers, 5-2. Komatsu, who finished 2nd in the EL in strikeouts with 165 in 1957, went the distance for Sapporo. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits.
Subaru Nishimoto dealt the Kingfishers a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Sapporo leading 2-1, Nishimoto, who finished 5th in the EL in stolen bases with 10 in 1958, hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Bears manager Earl Higgins.
Sapporo bumps their record to 56-41 with the win.
