| Extra-Inning Win by Owls Over Reliables | The Kyoto Owls faced a tough opponent in Hosho pitcher Fumimaro Yamauchi, but still scratched out a win at Nagoya Minami Stadium by a final score of 3-2 in 11 innings. Yamauchi went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The win was credited to Hisaaki Sakamoto in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Matashichi Matsunaga took the loss. Kyoto is now 57-48, Hosho 66-38.
Hiroshi Yamashita came through with a big-time hit for Kyoto. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Yamashita attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
