| Bears Topple Rams, 2-1 | The Rakisuta Rams got a superb performance from pitcher Kinichi Harada. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Sapporo. The Bears won the game, 2-1. Harada threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Masaru Ryu, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 3-11. The Bears raised their record to 42-62.
Shikato Murata drove in one run for Sapporo. With one out and the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Murata, who finished 3rd in the EL in triples with 6 in 1967, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Rakisuta hurler Kinichi Harada, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Bears a 2-1 lead.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Murata.
