| Rakisuta Sent Home with 2-1 Loss | The Hosho Reliables picked up a win at Nagoya Minami Stadium, knocking off the Rakisuta Rams, 2-1. On the mound for Hosho was right-hander Takashi Masuda. He played a key role in the triumph. Masuda, now 9-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Their 58-39 record puts the Reliables first in the Eastern League.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Reliables had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when right fielder Toshimasa Ikeda hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Juro Esaki and made the score 2-1, Reliables. Ikeda was 1 for 4.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Masuda.
