| Owls Popped by Kingfishers, 7-3 | The Yokohama Kingfishers topped the Kyoto Owls, 7-3, with second baseman Shigemitsu Fukui playing a big role. Fukui went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Kingfishers in the win. Kinzo Yoshimura, who finished 2nd in the EL in strikeouts with 145 in 1950, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout. The Eastern League-leading Kingfishers have a record of 52-31.
Fukui had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-1 sinker from Toshimasa Kobayashi, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Kingfishers a 6-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Fukui.
