| Kingfishers Topple Rams with Late Rally | Yokohama right-hander Fumimaro Yamauchi pitched his team to victory over the Rakisuta Rams at Rakisuta Stadium. The final score was 7-4. Yamauchi, now 11-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Toshinori Osada notched his 12th save of the season.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 29-year old shortstop Daijiro Sato. Sato had a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Kingfishers ahead, 5-3. For the game, Sato had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Sato.
The first-place Kingfishers, at 51-29, now lead their division by 6½ games.
