Kiyoji Nakamura, who finished 2nd in the EL in wins with 17 in 1970, propelled his team to victory over the Sapporo Bears. The final score was 6-3, Yokohama. The winner was Nakamura. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Naruki Shimada. The last-place Kingfishers go to 35-56.

Toyoji Iwamoto had a big 3-run home run for the Kingfishers in the top of the third inning.
