| Kingfishers Run Win Streak to 8 | Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Kingfishers beat the Reliables.
The Yokohama Kingfishers topped the Hosho Reliables, 6-2, in Eastern League action at Kanagawa Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Yokohama pitcher and Sanda, Japan, native Masatoshi Sakai. Sakai got the win, improving to 8-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run.
In the bottom of the fourth, Yokohama second baseman Shigemitsu Fukui had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Fukui stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 2-0, Yokohama. For the game, he was 2 for 3 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Sakai. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
The first-place Kingfishers have won 8 consecutive games.
