People outside the ballpark no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.

Pitcher Yamada Yamanaka was rock solid in helping the Sapporo Bears beat the Rakisuta Rams, 2-1, in 11 innings. The loss makes Rakisuta 41-47.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 31-year old second baseman Gunji Nakashima had a real shot to win the game. Rakisuta pitcher Gunji Matsuda was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Nakashima hit a run-scoring single. The Bears had a walk-off triumph.

"I do my best to contribute," said Yamanaka.
