| Owls Hand Yokohama 7-3 Loss | Kyoto took on Yokohama in front of a lively crowd.
The Kyoto Owls weathered an outstanding game by Yokohama shortstop Daijiro Sato to topple the Kingfishers, 7-3. Sato went 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The setback makes Yokohama 53-54.
The Kyoto win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Takanori Matsui. In the bottom of the fifth, the Kyoto second baseman came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 4-3 lead.
"I really like what we did out there today," Matsui said after the game.
