| Aoki Helps Kingfishers Defeat Owls, 6-4 | Due in large part to first baseman Kimiyasu Aoki, the Yokohama Kingfishers sunk the Kyoto Owls, 6-4. Aoki went 2-2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The winner in relief was Hirotsugu Sasaki. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 5-5. The win makes Yokohama 42-39.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Aoki delivered big-time for Yokohama, stroking a dramatic 2-run home run off Toshimasa Kobayashi. The game-changing hit put the Kingfishers on top, 6-4.
Aoki told a Yokohama Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
